Christmas

So it looks like I might not be the best blogger for the 2 followers. Our Christmas celebrations lasted over a week. It all began the Saturday before Christmas. Oma and Coach (Austin's parents) came up from Houston. Adults only dinner on Sat night and the opening of presents on Sunday and received some fun gifts including big legos, Astros/Rockets/Aggie apparel, books and a 4 in 1 construction push toy. After opening of presents we went to the world's longest tour of the new Cowboy Stadium. Oma and Coach stayed with us all day Monday and Tuesday so Austin and I could get some last minute shopping done.

Thursday was Christmas eve and it snowed then iced in the DFW area. We still bundled up and drove to Southlake (which took over an hour) for dinner with Mimi,Papa (Mom's parents) and Saysa (Mom's cousin). We exchanged presents with Saysa: 1st Christmas ornament, baseball/basketball/football toy, and a lovely dolphin ornament for the parents. (We give out dolphins in our family new ways as a joke)

Christmas morning it iced over so breakfast was with mom and dad only. Santa came to our house and left lots of stocking stuffers, toys, and clothes. Of coarse Owen tried to eat all of the presents! Mimi and Papa made it over around noon followed by Sheri and Raquel. Then over the Brandie's and the kids for dinner. Owen loved the mashed potatoes! It was a wonderful Chritstmas with small bouts of the family and we all slept well those nights.

Finally Home!

Owen is finally home after a long weekend at Children's hospital. Saturday was quite a day! We started off with going to have breakfast with Santa (more like 3 mini muffins and a fruit roll up with Santa) at the Southlake Hilton. Owen took a fantastic picture but something was wrong with the photographer's memory card :( so we will go see Santa once again. All was good until Saturday night. Owen woke up at 9:55 with a 102.4 fever and panting. I tried to call the after hours clinic to see if we could make it, but the receptionist was not willing to stay open for us, they closed at 10 pm. So after giving tylenol and no fever change, Austin called the nurse's help line. I called it that they would just send us to Children's ER. On the bright side they mentioned that we could go to the one at Legacy (in Plano) or downtown Dallas. I always here horror stories of the 5-10 wait at the downtown ER, so I quickly opted for the new hospital. We waited max of 15 minutes to see the nurse and get placed into a room. Then we spent the entire night in the mini ER room with them testing our little baby boy. At 5 am they admitted him and had taken blood, urine, and chest x-rays. We were initially told that we would be there for 12 hours which turning into over 30 hours. At this time, none of us had had any sleep. Owen spent his entire 1/2 year birthday in the hospital, but on the brighter side he was just old enough to try Motrin. It worked like a charm (for 7 hours.) Owen was hooked up to an IV which was miserable for my little boy whom likes to always be moving and chewing on his hands. He couldn't sleep b/c he was so overtired and was not able to roll in the crib. Finally Sun night they removed the IV and Monday at 8 we were told all of the testing were clear. They just think it was a virus. Owen in back home and napping like crazy today. His fever seems to be improving slowly. Despite the fever and IV at the hospital, Owen continued to smile at every new person that entered our room (or at least attempted to smile- he was really tired.) Thanks to cousin Katie who gave Owen her little sister's alphabet pal to Owen, this was the only way that Owen calm down and go to sleep. Austin and I heard that little stuffed animal sing ABCs so many times! We are back at home and each getting some good napping in! Needless to say, I think we will forgo his vaccines tomorrow at his 6 month check up!

Just for Elizabeth

So I thought I would put something actually on my page for my one follower! We are so excited that the Cardiologist said that his heart was perfect yesterday, it was a big relief off our shoulders. They had to give him a mild sedative for the ECHO which made my little baby seem drunk. What head control? It reminded Austin and I of the youtube video of the kid after the dentist. Owen is happy today once again and ready to play all of the time!
